This Wednesday 16th September 2009I have booked the pool at Burrs until 9pm with the floodlights switched on. Steve is bringing the Open Canoe so we can all have a look at the 2-star syllabus. With regard to assessment I have seen people paddle throughout the year and in all honesty I can't think of anyone who is not ready.
With regard to the 'safety' part of the 2-star, this does involve what is known as deep water rescues, which can be done indoor in the pool. However, we will try these on Wednesday and anyone who wishes to complete assessment then and there can have a go.
Incidentally, for those who paddled the Trweryn on Sunday you will have demonstrated most of the 3-star skills as well

You just need to look at towing techniques and be able to roll (flat water), the only problem is that not everyone in the club can assess you. if you want to get your three-star we will need to organise an assessment for you.

Have just spoken to Paul G and will collect the canoe tomorrow so we're on for that bit.
I won't have the beard but I'll try to find my wide-brimmed hat.

Any chance of doing some Paddlepower tick-off sheets for Conor & Fiona tomorrow? I have a print of the requirements, if we kick the process off with those then I'll get the proper documents ordered from the BCU afterwards.
