Setting the record straightThose who know me well will no doubt tell people that I am a quiet person who always thinks carefully before speaking, however, it is perhaps time to give an accurate account of comments made when perhaps I have been caught off guard.
1) 'yeah I agree totally, let's run Bala Mill tomorow, it looks like you can get away with anything' this comment followed several pints of Guiness in a pub in Bala, following a run of the lower section of the Tryweryn and involved myself and another paddler (Mick) after we had only been paddling a few weeks. The next day when we ran the river again I decided not to run the falls, due to a really good reason that I no longer remember.
2) If I'm going to capsize it wil............' a comment made to Chris on the River Kent just as I was breaking into an eddy. I finished the sentence under water.
3) 'I swam so you must have', this was pure logic speaking. I had seen much better paddlers than myself swim at the same spot and the person who I was talking to was a serial club swimmer and Jason*
4) Has Jason* got his helmet wet yet? This followed a purchase of a really good state of the art creeking full contact kayaking helmet by a member who at the time was unable to get out paddling all that much.
5) 'What this club needs is more competent paddlers', by this I meant members who would be happy to lead river trips up to grade 3.
I hope the above sets the record straight and I am sure that comments such have these have been discussed many times before.

• Some say that his tears are adhesive, and that if he caught fire he’d burn for a thousand days...
• Some say he can swim seven lengths underwater, and he has webbed buttocks... |
All we know, is that he is called Jason.
