Rule 1 ......

Rule 1 is never let go of your paddle.
The other Rule 1 is never do what Graham tells you to do.

So if Graham tells you to let go of your paddle you're asking for trouble, and I really should know better by now.

I was surfing at the first small drop after the squirt spot, without a paddle, when I thought I'd get ambitious and tried a flat spin. This didn't work so over I went. A hand roll failed, and a rather ambitious rescue attempt by (A N Other) only succeeded in holding my head at water level for what seemed quite a while, so I couldn't go back under or get my head up. Several lungfuls of water later I scrambled out sideways.

I have only ever swum twice at Burrs - both times this year and both times when Phil was present - JINX!

I always thought that rule 1 was don't talk about canoe club.

rule 2 is DON'T TALK ABOUT CANOE CLUB!

And i was going to stick up for you saying i thought your roll worked but as you come up you crashed into Mikes boat which sent you back in  as he tried to get you, your boat kept getting knocked back under by his.
But im not now im just going to say you swam and i never
Anyway i ll see you next week and you never know it might be third time unlucky

I was going to suggest rule one, never ask to be rescued by me, but looks like its been made clear enough lol.

Phil

I'm staying well away from you next week. And I'm not going to do what Graham says, probably.

And as always it was my own dumb fault for pushing it too far, but if you don't push it , you don't improve (but you might stay dry).

Steve

(I've fixed your quote bit.)

I only suggested you might like to show off your considerable skills Steve!

A super evening that got better as the river started to rise.

P.S. How come I rarely fall in, yet I am prepared to surf/play on waves etc. Could it possibly be that I am prepared to push myself that little bit further? Not too bad for one of the club's oldest paddler!!

I do not - that's why I leave it at home.
