Partial Retirement from CanoeingFor those members who are unaware, I suffered a serious back injury at the end of August caused by walking across the road.!! I had my first ride in an ambulance for a long time and was rushed into Penrith hospital where I was diagnosed as having a prolapsed (slipped) disc.
The end result is that I have been off work for 5 weeks to date and advised to pack in canoeing apart from the odd event in warmer weather.
Some of my gear is up for sale including paddles, wetsuit shorts, gloves etc - see me if you are looking for any spare used gear at very low cost.
Dave - thanks for the cag but I doubt if I will need it again other than an infrequent outing next summer although I may try out the open canoe some time!

It is sad to hear this Graham, will be in touch soon (I have lots of club money for you to count as a bit of occupational therapy).
Phil, we do enough daft things when Graham's not around, I don't really think we can blame him for everything (that's Carl).

Hi Graham, I'm sorry to hear this and I am sure that I can speak for many paddlers when I say thank you for all that you have taught me over the years. You have given me lots of confidence (especially when I had a little set back when a rock tried to rearrange my nose and face on a certain river in Yorkshire), with regard to doing 'daft' things I (and other longer serving members) are well aware of your sense of paddling based humour (hence, the way we sometimes scatter when you paddle towards us). Hope to see you soon.

Hi Graham,
Pretty much repeating what's already been said, but I'd like to add a thank you again for welcoming me to the club when I first ventured out onto Burrs. Seems a long time ago Hope your back gets better and I don't think I'll miss being told to paddle upstream with my eyes closed. They're shut enough coming down stream!
