Outdoor evening meets start 15 AprilThis year’s pool sessions have now finished and have been very successful with lots of people turning up, hopefully enjoying themselves while learning something they can now apply out in the real world of rivers!
The first official club outdoor evening session will be after Easter, on 15 April at Burrs.
After this we will publish a programme of weekly evening meets, hopefully at various venues as the evenings get longer. This year we will ask newcomers who are complete beginners to attend on the first Wednesday of each month, so these will be at Burrs, starting 6 May. From May we will try to run a river trip on the third Wednesday evening of the month, on lowish grade moving water, suitable for all paddlers with a bit of outdoor experience.
The club has added another couple of boats to the existing fleet for use on outdoor meets, and anybody who needs a boat or any other club kit must let us know well in advance EACH TIME you want to paddle. The club obviously has a finite amount of kit, but more limiting is the available space on roofracks, so we need as much notice as possible to organise things. Borrowing a boat and other gear for an outdoor session will cost £5.00.
Remember that (subject to availability) paid-up members can hire boats & kit for the whole outdoor season, so this can be more convenient (and economical). If necessary, priority for seasonal loan will be given to members who have shown commitment to previous club events. Loan of the kit will remain at last year’s fee of £50, to include kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid, cag, helmet and spraydeck.
Hope to see as many of you out on the water as possible this summer.
