Looking back over the yearSince this has been such a busy year, I thought I would write up a review of the year, which ended up a bit longer than I planned, but that's OK because I don't have to read it.
Anyway, follow the link below for my personal, biased memories from 2008, then get back on here and post your own high or low points.

Really enjoyed reading that Steve. This year's flown by and couldn't believe that it's been six months since we did the white water safety course!
Highlight for me would be running the Ure. Great combination of actual fear and excitment, although I still think the Carlcam reduced the size of the river....
Lowlight (?), STILL not being able to roll.
Took me a while to decide on which was my highlight, they've been a few from little things like the first time I went over the weir with my eyes open to the weekend away.
Had to struggle to think of a lowlight (still not sure that's a proper word), but I guess that's a good reflection on the club and everyone who has coached, cajoled and told me to get my ar$e over rapids and scary looking water

I can't believe that you paddle with your eyes open! I find that the best technique is to go down weirs with eyes shut screaming, seriously though why do you think that I go down the Burrs weir backwards?
My personal lowlight of the year followed seconds after what I thought was to perhaps be my highlight. Bala Mill falls with lots of water, Steve Andy and myself. Capsized as I tried to break out and rolled up, total suprise! Immediate capsize again and as Steve tells the story, in his review, I went down the waterfall out of my boat with head stuck in cockpit. Highlight must therefore when I tried a second time a few weeks later and went down this grade 4 fall completely in control.

That was quite a moment - not helped by me screwing up my line when I went over the fall to chase after you, ending up pointing upstream in the stopper below the drop. It was a relief to see you, even if it was some distance downstream.
