Holme PierrepontI was in Derby this morning so I took a detour on the way home and had a look at Holme Pierrepont slalom course as a possible future weekend trip - it's a bit over 2 hours away so easily do-able (although that was in a hire car, they go quicker!).

They are open from 10:00 - 20:00 (21:00 on some weekdays) and charge £10 (£5 for juniors). You need to be 3-star standard, either by showing them the paperwork or convincing one of their staff by having them watch you paddle. Alternatively groups can be supervised by a L3 coach. We would need to ring in advance to make sure there were no other events on.
Definitely worth a look. I heard a rumour today that we're in for a dry winter so this might be an option.
