Free flatwater coaching!I am trying to arrange an assessment so that I can be formally qualified as a Level 2 coach. Unfortunately the old scheme which I'm on is winding down and assessments are becoming difficult to find.
I have been in touch with a coach in North Wales, who can organise an assessment for me, but I will have to provide some victims (sorry, students). This would be novice level paddlers, up to two-star standard.
I'm looking at any weekend in May, maybe early June, depending on the coach's availability and that of my guinea pigs.
I don't know how many students I need yet. If it's four or less then I'll drive you all over, if more then I'll chip in to your petrol costs.
If you're willing to help me out, please post here, email or speak to me, letting me know your availability. I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Steve

I'm available any weekend apart from the bank holiday weekends (June would probably be better).
Good luck.

Thanks Graham
I'll bear that in mind, but for Level 2 I'm looking at more novice paddlers. L2 coaches are supposed to work on sheltered, flat or slow-moving water. You're past that level now (on the old scheme you'd probably be looking at doing your 3-star), but if no-one else crops up, you're on.
Cheers

So after this you'll be able to coach on flat water? OMG, all those times I've trusted you on slightly less than flat water
If you need help, I can do weekends after the 16th May (am on holiday 'till then )

Phil, Lisa - you're just the standard that I think I'll be looking for so I'll let you know as soon as I do. I'll speak to you next week.
Graham & Mel - unfortunately (?) you're past the standard which is the remit for a Level 2 (you could read that as saying we've done all we can with you both!) but if I need a couple more then I'd be grateful and you can always be my ringers.
Mel, you clearly haven't seen the small print on the website that says: | Quote: | | "we don't have a clue what we're doing so you're on your own." | Actually it's in bold italic and says that we don't all necessarily have the bits of paper which say we can do what we do, even though the likes of Carl, Paul, Chris and I clearly have the experience to coach and lead on club trips. Only Graham (L3) has the official bit of paper that says he can coach on moving water.

Not sure what's going on here as the guy isn't returning his emails, so I guess that it's not going to happen any time soon.
Thanks for all the offers and I'll be back in touch as soon as anything changes.
Cheers
