Doubled Up?For last night's session (23rd July), I managed to hire a Large Recoil from Pyranha.
I now know what you have been saying regarding 'getting away with things' in the H3 - I managed to double my total number of swims in 1 session!!! Managed to end up swimming at least once on every single feature of the Burrs (excluding the canal)! Must definately have been a record for wettest paddler ever (even worse considering it we were playing at 'home').
However, really enjoyed the session and should be picking up a bargain ex-demo at the weekend! Looks like I'm going to have a lot of practice at rolling.
Cheers

And Mel and I missed it!!!!
Sounds like fun though! Does make a difference paddling different boats - as I found on the 9th!
I will beat my nemeisis and get through the road bridge without swimming one day!!! (The fishermen were excellent at taking pity on me and getting me back on the water though - obviously didn't know me!!)

Don't worry about missing it - I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to witness the same in the future!

I also have to admit that I doubled my Irwell tally last night tackling the Ramsbottom to Burrs run. After a decent amount of rainfall the days before, the river had a healthy volume in it. As such it provided plenty of hiding places for the river trolls.
Twice they caught me out but it gave me a good chance to try out the defensive and agressive swimming strokes we were taught at the Treweryn.
The run was great fun, the only downside was me being the target for the local 'rock throwing' club. My thumb got hit and has swelled up nicely. Probably the same idiots who throw rocks from roadbridges onto motorways.

This was a fantastic session and we really got a lot of paddling in. In fact we had to paddle the last section (squirt spot down to road bridge) vitually from memory since light was failing. It is unusual for the local yobs to attack us on this river (I think Jon was unluckly), I wonder if it was the same ones who were trying to get themselves killed on the road as we were driving back to the park at the end of the evening?

Not again!
Another time that the club's done the run down from Rammy and I'm not there!
I am destined never to do this....
