December trip weekend of 13th/14th **CANCELLED**

I suggest doing an easier trip for the club run in December, we have a number of new members who would benefit from this.  In order for me to start planning I could do with knowing who is interested and availability.  For those new to paddling outdoors, there is some gear provided by the club and  can be discussed at the pool.

I'm free that weekend (so far) so would be interested in seeing what you have planned.

I'd prefer an 'easier' trip in December - it's getting a bit cold for my customary swim!!

The activity will depend upon who says they can go.  We did a 'beginners trip' last year at Sale Water Park and the paddlers who turned up were Mick, Steve, myself and one or two other experienced members.  We would have been better off running the tryweryn instead!

We can discuss this at the pool, but I think it comes down to (in order of difficulty):

1) Mersey, Weaver or a canal trip
2) Halton Rapids
3) Somewhere else

I would love to go to Halton Rapids again ................ if it's not too cold!

Halon Rapids it is then! I will bring a kettle with warm water for you.

Count me in.
For anything.
Anywhere.
Either day.

After three weeks living on expenses I am in serious need of exercise.

Not going to get drawn into this, we got told off by Becky last time .....

Back to the point .....

The decision was taken last night to go to Halton rapids, on the Lune near Lancaster, on Saturday 13th. More details will appear here or ask at next week's pool session.

This is a good spot for improvers to learn  and practice moving water skills, but is not suitable for complete novices, nor for a first outdoor trip. See the other thread for details of a proposed beginners event.

Sorry guys - won't be able to join you on Saturday as I'll be staying over the border in Yorkshire following Caroline's work's Christmas do. An early start would land me in hot water..........!
Steve T

Could be a good move Jon - the forecast for Saturday reckons sleet in the morning and snow in the afternoon!

I’ve just been and bought some pogies from the Pyranha shop.
Steve T

Due to a combination of lack of interest and a genuinely horrible weather forecast we won't be going anywhere on Saturday. (Not really true, I suspect I'll be going to Tesco).

Next trip will be the Washburn trip on the 28th, so click here to express your interest in that one: http://westhoughtoncanoeclub.myfreeforum.org/about182.html
