I copied this from the UK Riversguidebook with regard to the full run:
WATER LEVEL INDICATORS: Looking downstream from the Burrs bridge:
No island visible: Full flood, paddle from Ramsbottom's Nuttal Park, experienced paddlers only (All features at Burrs will be washed our, bar the weir).
Island visible, water flowing in LH & RH channels, but no obvious rocks, paddle from Ramsbottom.
If you can see a line of rocks parallel to the bridge just, or nearly covered, paddling from Rammy is marginal, but would suit intermediates.
Line of rocks visible, little water in RH channel, stick to the Burrs site.
Mike, the full run does involve a grade 3 section at the start and some weirs, we have done it in fairly low water and it can be a scrape. Should be okay for Sunday probably falling into the 'If you can see a line of rocks' category. You should be okay at this level but I wouldn't recommend doing it in higher water levels.

Did you do the rammy run
|
GrahamS
|
Yep - it was a bit of a rock dodge in places - blame has been apportioned to my goggles (ahem)!

The water was just about high enough to make a Rammy run possible, but as a consequence the rapids become much more technical with lots of rock dodging involved.
The trip started at Nuttal park and after only a few yards we were in the fairly continuous grade 3 section making boat recovery problematic. We continued under the cafe bridge and then Taylor's weir. The rest of the river was fairly flat until we reached the Burrs site which because of time limitations we simply ran straight down.
With regard to Graham's swims, I do think it had a lot to do with the goggles he was wearing as it is difficult to read the water with these on, so I think this is a really good excuse
This was a good prep for the Tryweryn; we have run the Washburn (which provides practise for the speed, waves and drops) and the run today provided experience of technical rapids.

Now I see the event co-ordinator's cunning plan.
