Burrs 2/9/09Another memorable paddle last night on Burrs.
It was the highest ive seen it in a long while which give us a good go at practising our ferry gliding and breaking in and out on a fast flowing river, rather than scraping down.
I want to say well done to Lisa on her first time in her new boat she did really well and stayed dry unlike some of us.
Also Carl was out in his new tank and he was saying i wonder if i can roll it up near the squirt spot. anyway he can as he had no choice further down as he did his first roll in anger in it cos of me just past the road bridge in beteen the two drops when i was getting rescued. Thanks Carl.
I think next week though i ll bring my night goggles just so i can see cos it didnt half go dark quick.
By the way Steve does pulling Carls boat through the trees at the end count as a rescue even if it was my fault

It did go dark quickly and it's a good job Carl got your (expensive, dark grey, unmarked) paddle or you'd be looking for it on the car boot sales in Salford this weekend. I think we've probably got a couple more weeks outside before it gets silly/dangerous, and we'll probably move to a 6:30 start time to make the most of it.
I think last night was the first time I have seen Lisa nervous, but that didn't last long and she looked like she was enjoying the new boat by the end.

Your right Steve i was nervous as soon as a got on. Normally i would be straight in there ferry gliding etc, however because the other boat is so big it saves me from going over.
After a few attempts of breaking in i felt more confident but i was still a little nervous.
I felt like i did really well. Esspecially 2 of my break in's, they where perfect, i gained more confidence towards the end.
I felt like i could controll my new boat better than the Dagger Mamba.
Im looking forward to getting back in it and having a play around in it. That doesnt mean to say im taking it to the Tryweryn (Im going to take my big boat).
Great night, however im looking forward to getting back to the pool so i can learn my techniques (rolling). Plus im scared of the dark

Don't worry about this Phil, I am not 100% certain as to why I capsized and in anycase, we all look after each other on the river.
I have never rolled in that spot before, but knew that a swim was out of the question (the water seemed too cold). The new boat is the same as Steve's creek boat, we also have the same paddle and at one time the same helmet. I am also working on the same hairstyle

You're both just playing at it. Imitation, flattery, etc.
