Burrs, 12 April 2008This morning, Graham S, Mel, Jon, Carl & myself had a good paddle at Burrs at a fairly high, fast level (high enough to stay well away from the top weir). It was raining as we started but the sun was out by the end of the session. As usual after a lot of run-off, there was a slight aroma of diesel at the weirs.
We had two runs down, the first making the most of the flow and catching as many breakouts as possible, and practising ferry gliding on some of the fast chutes. Mel & Jon left the rest of us to do a second run down, this time a quick blast but still with a chance to play on some of the waves.
There were those who left the safety of their boat for a little dip, but they can talk about that themselves if they want to. It has to be said that there were also a number of valiant attempts at rolls in the murky water.
The morning was finished off nicely with a bacon butty and brew in the cafe.
Didn't have time to take any pictures apart from these when we started off:
The Carl-cam was in evidence, so hopefully there will be some dramatic video from that.
With luck the level will stay high for Wednesday evening's session.
