Beginner's event - December

Recent weeks at the pool have seen quite a few newcomers. Most of these are now ready to get outside and have their first outdoor paddle so we will arrange a session at a flat water venue to suit.

Arrangements will be made at next week’s pool session depending on the availability of those who are interested. If you’re keen but can’t make next week then post your availability here or get in touch. This will probably be at Burrs if we can book the training pool, but otherwise could be at Trafford water sports centre if their blue-green algae issue is sorted. Both venues have the luxury of changing rooms with showers.

Bear in mind the time of year so speak to us about what to wear as there is a good chance you’ll get wet. We can supply splash/wind-proof cags, buoyancy aids and helmets as well as boats, paddles and spraydecks. We have a few wetsuits but these are mostly small sizes. We would always encourage novices to invest in their personal kit first and if you intend to keep up paddling then a long-john type wetsuit can be had fairly cheaply (~£35 ish) and is probably the best early investment you can make at this stage (ask last year’s crop of beginners). See sites like wetsuit outlet (www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk) or Lomo (www.ewetsuits.com). Ebay usually has a few on and Decathlon in Stockport also has wetsuits.

Post here or speak to me/Carl/Graham with any queries.

Steve.

Not many people at the pool last night (not surprising, given the weather) so nothing was arranged.

That means it might be difficult to sort anything this month but in that case we will definitely arrange something early in the new year.
