'I swam so you must have done'Last year we ran the River Ure in spate conditions. Allen was leading but had forgotten to attach a satnav to his boat, as a consequence we all went other a rather interesting/nasty drop with a washing machine type stopper at the bottom. The boat I was following hit the stopper and went vertical (despite being fairly long!) I was in my G-Ride and as I hit the bottom I was spun round and found myself vertical looking down at the river. I went upside down and was fairly stuck, I had no chance of rolling so baled out and swam. There was a fair number of people in a similar position and when I got out Jason was there looking smug. He claimed that he hadn't swam but I didn't believe him. Hence the infamous quote!
I do not have an ego problem and Jason and I are never abusive to each other Well we don't really mean it when we are!
I think there is an opportunity for further quotes to be recorded, for example there is an urban myth about one of our more experienced members swimming with the words 'watch out for that tree' being the last he heard prior to capsize. I rember breaking out on a rather fast flowing River Kent and saying to Chris, 'this is the bit where I normally cap....'
