The membership year expires on 30 September.
Please get your subs and forms to me ASAP before then. The form currently on the website says 2008/9 but until I've changed it just cross that out. I will have paper copies with me on club meets. I will then provide you with your very own membership card, which will be a DIFFERENT COLOUR to last year's!
I will need forms from everyone, even if you filled one in last year and even if you are a life member. This makes sure that we have the latest details. It's particularly important to give an emergency contact and to make sure that this is updated through the year if it changes. This is your responsibility.
You don't need to put your date of birth on the form if you're over 16. Last year quite a few members did and it just depresses me when I read them and realise how old I am.
Club membership gives you the cover of the BCU third party liability insurance if you clout someone in the mush with a paddle on club events, as well as the dubious pleasure of the Burrs changing rooms. You can also get discount at Kayaks North West (15%) and some other shops may also offer discounts, some of which have been posted here on the forum.
For those attending the Tyne Tour in November you will need to provide evidence of third party insurance when you sign in to avoid paying the additional £3.00; your club membership card will be needed for this if you're not in the BCU. The same thing should apply for the Washburn if it's an official club trip.
Cheers

OK - nearly a month into the new membership year and not a huge number of forms and subscriptions have been forthcoming. I will be getting a clipboard so that I can tick you off on a list.
Tomorrow I should have some shiny YELLOW membership cards to hand out to those who have paid. As noted above, you will need these to prove insurance cover at the Tyne Tour.
As for the men's changing room, this is the one of the last bastions of the true gentleman - leather armchairs, ironed copies of the Times (broadsheet, not this tabloid nonsense) and batmen in white jackets bringing us cigars and brandy. You wouldn't like it.
